A Quick Visit to Malaysia’s First Apple Store

On June 26, 2024, I went to see Malaysia’s first Apple Store. It had just opened on June 22 in a new part of Kuala Lumpur called The Exchange TRX.

What I Saw

The store looks really cool. It’s big, takes up two floors, and connects the main area of the mall to a garden on the roof. The most interesting part is the roof of the store. It’s made of glass panels and has special blades to keep out too much sun. In the middle, there’s a round window that lets in natural light.

A view of the Apple Store from the second floor of the mall. The store has floor-to-ceiling glass walls, showing two levels filled with Apple products and customers. You can see the unique ceiling design and the bustling atmosphere inside.

I couldn’t look around for long, but I could tell the store was well-designed and spacious. It’s not just a place to buy things – it feels like a whole experience.

My Visit

Even though our visit was brief, I got to see quite a bit of the store’s impressive layout and product displays. The interior is beautifully designed, with a mix of sleek wood and glass that gives it a modern, yet warm feel.

One of the first things I noticed were the dedicated wall displays for specific product lines. For example, there’s a whole section just for AirPods. It’s set up in a really eye-catching way, with different AirPod models arranged on the wall, and a digital screen in the middle showing product information. Below the display, there are shelves neatly stocked with AirPods boxes and other headphone models you can check out.

Throughout the store, there are large wooden tables where you can get hands-on with Apple products. One table I saw was dedicated to Apple Watches, with all sorts of bands and accessories on display. It was cool to see people gathering around these tables, trying out the latest devices and getting a feel for them.

I didn’t stay long at the store. I was with my son, who has a different way of thinking and isn’t really into Apple stuff. So, we didn’t have time to look at everything closely. Even though we were quick, I could feel how excited other people in the store were. The place was bustling with activity, with customers and staff engaged in conversations about the products.

Apple Stores have special classes called “Today at Apple” where people can learn about their Apple devices. We didn’t join any, but I saw signs for a special set of classes called “Jom Discover” for the store opening. I wish we could have stayed to try one of these classes.

Even during our short visit, it was clear that this wasn’t just a place to buy things. It’s a space designed for people to explore, learn, and get excited about technology. Next time, I hope to spend more time really exploring all the different sections and maybe even join one of those “Today at Apple” sessions.

Getting There

It was easy to get to the store. We took the MRT Putrajaya Line to the Tun Razak Exchange station, where there’s a pedestrian link with direct access to the mall. It was a nice, smooth ride to the new area where the store is. If you want to visit, I think taking this train is a good idea.

Finding the Store

Once you’re in The Exchange TRX mall, the Apple Store is easy to find. It’s located at L1.40, which means it’s on the first level. There are signs all around the mall to help you find it. I saw one that said “SEIBU, Apple, Exchange 106, Lift B” with an arrow pointing the way. Just follow these signs, and you’ll get there without any trouble!

What I Think

Even though we didn’t stay long, I could see that this Apple Store is special. It’s not just for buying things. It’s a place where people can learn new skills and get help with their Apple products.

I want to go back when I have more time to look around. The store looks great, has cool technology, and seems like a nice place for people to gather.

If you like Apple products or are just interested in technology, you might enjoy visiting this store. Just make sure you have enough time to see everything!
