Five years ago, I began my Automattic adventure as a Happiness Engineer, supporting WordPress.com users. Since then, my journey has been marked by exciting transitions, personal growth, and the opportunity to explore the world.
In 2020, I embraced a new challenge by joining a team focused on supporting mobile app users. This shift allowed me to broaden my skill set and gain expertise in mobile support.
In November 2023, I took on a completely different role as a Fraud Prevention Specialist. This exciting shift has allowed me to delve into a new area of expertise and contribute to the security of our platform.
Beyond my evolving roles, Automattic has opened doors to global exploration. Through team meetups, division gatherings, company-wide events, and external conferences, I’ve had the privilege of visiting seven countries and experiencing diverse cultures. From the vibrant streets of Lisbon to the historic charm of Prague, each destination has enriched my personal and professional life. Even my airport transits have become mini-adventures, with stops in Dubai, Tokyo, Seoul, Amsterdam, Singapore, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
Throughout these transitions and travels, Automattic’s flexibility and open vacation policy have been invaluable. As a parent of a neurodivergent son, I deeply appreciate the support I’ve received to balance work and family life.
Currently, I’m relishing a 3-month paid sabbatical – a 5-year anniversary gift from Automattic. I look forward to returning refreshed and eager to continue my journey.
Here’s to Automattic: a company that champions personal growth, embraces change, fosters global connections, and understands the importance of work-life balance. Thank you for an amazing five years!
